WorkBuddy in Malaysia, explained

Tencent WorkBuddy Malaysia is available today, and it runs on the international edition. There is no local licence, no waiting list and no separate Malaysian app. You sign up at workbuddy.ai. The free plan gives you 100 credits a month without a credit card, and Malaysian users who enter signing up through BigDomain get 350 bonus credits.

This page answers the questions Malaysian buyers ask before they commit: which edition applies to you, what languages it handles, where the regional infrastructure sits, and what is not yet settled.

Key takeaways

Is WorkBuddy available in Malaysia?

Yes. Malaysian users get the international edition at workbuddy.ai, with the desktop app and browser version, and support for English, Bahasa Malaysia and Chinese. The free plan gives 100 credits a month with no credit card. The rest of this page covers the details buyers ask about before signing up.

Which edition Malaysian users get

WorkBuddy ships in two editions, and the difference matters for how you pay and what you can connect.

International edition China edition
Official site workbuddy.ai Mainland China channels
Applies to Malaysian users Yes No
Free credits and new-user bonus Valid here Not applicable
Account and billing International account Separate China system
Connectable tools Slack, Telegram and similar WeChat, QQ and the mainland ecosystem

If you are signing up from Malaysia, you are on the international edition. That is the one to install, and the one the free credits and the BigDomain code apply to.

What works in Malaysia today

The core of the product is the same everywhere. You install it, authorise the folders it may work in, and give it a task in English, Bahasa Malaysia or Chinese. It plans the steps, works across the files, and returns a finished document. Multi-model routing and the built-in skill set are part of the international edition.

Some items depend on where a feature is hosted or licensed, and the picture changes as Tencent expands. Where we cannot confirm a detail for Malaysia, we say so rather than guess.

Desktop app and browser version

Available; the desktop build is the fuller one because it works with your local files.

Free plan, credits and the new-user code

Confirmed for the international edition.

Mobile apps

WorkBuddy has a free iOS app in the Malaysian App Store (WorkBuddy – AI Work Agent, by Tencent Technology (Shanghai) Company Limited). An Android app also exists, but Tencent distributes it via its own download site and Chinese app stores — there is no Google Play listing.

Region-limited features

Some features are region-limited: Tencent states that feature availability varies by country, region and language, and that subscriptions and skill installations are currently available only in mainland China. The free tier is usable outside China.

Languages: English, Bahasa Malaysia and Chinese

Malaysia works in more than one language. An office in Penang may write quotes in English, brief a supplier in Bahasa Malaysia, and take a client's WeChat messages in Chinese. WorkBuddy handles all three, which is the main reason it fits a Malaysian desk better than a single-language assistant.

You can ask for a document in one language and a summary in another, or hand it a bilingual thread and ask for a clean English version. For teams that operate across the Johor–Singapore border daily, that flexibility is the everyday use case, not a novelty.

Language support is a model capability rather than a fixed menu, so treat very rare phrasing as something to test on your own files first. The getting-started guide walks through a first task in each language.

The local infrastructure behind it

Tencent Cloud announced its first Malaysian cloud region — up to three availability zones in Johor — on 18 August 2026; two zones were live at launch, with a third to follow.

For most Malaysian users, this matters indirectly. You interact with the product through the app, not the region. But for a business thinking about latency, data residency questions and where the workload physically runs, the Johor region is the detail to raise with Tencent or with a local partner.

Who runs this page, and what we handle

WorkBuddy is Tencent's product. This site is run by BigDomain, an official Tencent Cloud agentic-cloud partner in Malaysia. We write the local guides, run the community, and handle what a Malaysian business usually cannot get from an overseas download page on its own:

Local onboarding

Getting WorkBuddy set up from one seat to a team rollout.

RM-based billing

Local invoicing in MYR instead of an overseas card charge.

Model access

Through Token Hub, BigDomain's own in-house product, one API endpoint across multiple models, built in close collaboration with Tencent Cloud's Token Hub.

You can read who runs this site or talk to a local partner about a rollout.

Getting started without overspending

The low-risk path is the same for every Malaysian team. Sign up on the international edition, enter the code, download the desktop app, and run one task that matters. Judge the output before you pay anything. Only then decide whether Pro earns its US$10 a month.

Start with download for Malaysia, check how the free credits work, and look at Malaysia pricing when you are ready to compare tiers. If events are your thing, check upcoming Malaysia events for a chance to see it run live.

Which edition of WorkBuddy do Malaysian users get?

The international edition at workbuddy.ai. The free monthly credits, the daily active reward and the new-user bonus all apply on that edition. The China edition runs on a separate account and billing system and is not the one for Malaysia.

Is WorkBuddy officially available in Malaysia?

Yes. Malaysian users can download and use it today, and Big Domain is an official Tencent Cloud agentic-cloud partner in Malaysia handling local onboarding, RM invoicing and support.

Can I buy a Pro subscription from Malaysia?

Not in-app. Tencent states that feature availability varies by country, region and language, and that subscriptions and skill installations are currently available only in mainland China. The free tier is usable in Malaysia — talk to us about local onboarding and RM billing.

Does WorkBuddy handle English, Bahasa Malaysia and Chinese?

Malaysian teams work in all three, and WorkBuddy handles multilingual documents within a single task — so a mixed-language thread can become one clean English summary without a translation detour.

Is my data stored in Malaysia?

Tencent's international terms name no Malaysian data-residency guarantee. For users outside mainland China the data controller is Tencent Cloud International Pte. Ltd. (Singapore), and inputs are processed by third-party language models. Read the data and PDPA notes before putting personal data in.
